We stopped after a visit to the Royal Gorge and were very pleased. The burgers was delish and all the toppings were very fresh. Great value for the kids meals. Both the homemade chips and burgers could have used a touch more seasoning but nothing that a bit of salt and pepper couldn't fix. Grass fed beef does have a different taste and texture so some of the less favorable reviews may just not like grass fed beef. The service was friendly and attentive, they even asked if they could bring out a treat for our dogs. Will definitely stop in the next time we are in the area.

Nice spot to grab a bite. Friendly service, great recommendations and you can build your own. Awesome sides too. You must stop in a try this burger joint. It looks like a fast food place but it's far from it. The burgers are cooked to perfection. The tomato slice was fresh and crispy. The swiss cheese was melted nicely over the bacon keeping everything intact. No mess. The taste was like home on your grill. Definitely a place to stop into when your in Canon City Colorado.

I stopped by there tonight for a burger with bleu cheese and bacon. The burger was overdone - absolutely no pink in the middle and pretty dry. And the chips were underdone - half of them were mushy and soft, instead of crispy. The service was friendly and fast. Overall though my visit was a disappointment.

Best burger in Colorado ! ! Grass fed beef burger cooked to perfection....you can taste the quality....cooked to order & super fast service....lots of complimenting topping combinations ..all yummy... Fries & homemade chips hot off the grill....the owner's & staff's genuine friendliness & pride in service brings it up a notch too. Skip the chains & enjoy a really delicious burger. Bonus: the bathroom are immaculate.

Bunk House Burgers, one word - amazing! Owners own a cattle farm locally, grass fed beef and you can taste the difference. Price is consistent with quality, you are definitely getting value for your dollar here. Opt for the spud shavings that come with the burger, they are really crispy and flavorful. (Fries aren't worth the upgrade, you are better off trying the chips, they should be the upgrade). This will become a staple when driving through Canon City for our family.

Great burgers, fast service! We enjoyed the build your own burger option in order to get exactly what we wanted on our burgers. Several choices with size of burger, breads and fixings. The potato shavings were a pleasant surprise--their version of a homemade chip.

Service was friendly and helpful in ordering. They offered a loyalty card. Prices were decent. Loved the bun and burger topping options. Thick and juicy burger patties. Good kids menu options. There was a cool plane sculpture out front but that was it for representing a theme as far as decor. We would safely recommend this as a place to hit while in Canon City.

So good. The special of the day - get it. This place is a gem! The chips are the best I've ever had- made on the spot.

Fabulous yelp find. Couldn't have asked for better service. Even brought my 8 1/2 months pregnant daughter pickles when she craved them. The hamburger was juicy, perfectly cooked, fresh and made by hand. The in house made chips were amazing. Exactly what I'm wanting when I crave a burger. Definitely a place to hit if you're in the area.

This place was awesome! The two women behind the counter we so friendly , the place was clean but most of all the food is delicious. The burgers and toppings were so fresh and well prepared. The fried cheesecake was to die for. Got myself a punch card and will definitely fill that up quick

Great food, great service. Had the Bronco Burger it was fabulous.

Solid burgers from grass fed beef. Better than most of the burger alternatives in Canon. Their homemade chips were interesting but I'd rather have fries. And instead of shakes they had smoothies. We had our own beverages so we didn't partake but a smoothie and a burger just doesn't really appeal to me. But since I didn't have one I can't say whether they're good or not.

Great burgers, awesome rolls and homemade chips. Very friendly. Very clean. Stopped here on the way home from breck and was pleasantly surprised. Very near Mcdonalds. Skip that and come here.

This is a really nice spot to grab a quick and delicious bite to eat. I went here yesterday for lunch and there was a woman and man working, possibly the owners. The customer service was great, I really liked that they reviewed the ingredients of the burger type that you order just to double check that you don't get something you don't want. They put just the right amount of topping accompaniments on so you could still taste the burger. Plus the onion rings were batter dipped and they came with a spicy white sauce that was also delicious. The store and restrooms were also impeccably clean. We will be back soon!

Great food is limited in Canon City, so we were thrilled to experience Bunk House Burgers! Thank you for fun, innovative burgers like the PBJ! Yummy!

The staff was wonderful, and the restaurant itself is very clean and comfy. Unfortunately, that's not enough to make up for the food. Overpriced, tasteless burgers. Fried pickles were interesting, though also expensive for the small portion we got. Better and cheaper options for burgers in town, and I don't think that this little place can really compete with the older, well-known restaurants.

  • Barbara S.

The best burger in town! I love that they cook the meat the way I love it...med rare. And the fried mac and cheese is fun. I highly recommend Bunk House Burgers

This restaurant was ok. For what you get it's pricey, and not really worth it. The sides are overpriced for what you get and the burgers aren't that spectacular which considering the $9 each price is unacceptable. There are better options in Canon City for a burger if that's what you are craving... but if they aren't open go here. It's unique enough to warrant a 3 star and to try at least once.

Best hamburgers in southern colorado and very reasonably priced for the quality of food. You can choose the size of your hamburger. Plus, grass fed beef which is a rarity these days. The buns are all delicious and where else can you get homemade chips. Love this place!!

Went there for lunch and it was pretty busy but worth the wait. I got a "Cowboy Up" burger that had fried onions, bbq, cheddar, and bacon on it and it was fantastic! Fries were nothing fancy, but still better than the fast food joints in the area.

If Burger Clown is a 3 out of 10, this place is a ten. Freshly ground lean beef with fresh fixings on a fresh toasted (!) roll, with freshly fried chips or fries in a spotlessly clean place. Intelligent courteous service. It is a relatively small place but a real find. I am not a potato chip fan, but these are the best I've ever tasted.

Great burgers, chicken is great also. Finest fried potato slices, definitely not your grocery store chips.

We ate at Bunk House when they first opened had high hopes. Would rather go the Wendy's or Burger World. Burgers were dry and way over priced, we had a small order of fries and what we got was a childs portion, they were also over priced. All I can say is I hope they have gotten better now that they have been open a little while.

Excellent tasting burgers..just like on your backyard grill! The service was swift and the people very friendly. I got the build your own with red onion tomato and avocado. Delicious!!! Worth a stop on the way to Colorado Springs airport!!

As you can tell from the outside, this is a fast food joint--but it's not exactly "fast food." The house-made chips are a great touch. The staff is also very attentive. I like the idea of this place, but the execution of my particular hamburger was lacking. It had an odd, burned flavor. Perhaps the pretzel bun was singed a bit, or it was due to the over-cooked burger. I'll return, and ask them not to go past medium rare. It is grass-fed beef, after all.

Good but expensive for a burger joint. They sell plenty though so they must have some thing going right for them. Glad they added shakes to their menu.

1/4lb, 1/3lb, and 1/2lb burgers, GREAT tasting beef, family owned/operated, VERY friendly staff. Home- made chips are very good, not greasy, not too salty, and crispy. Ladies rest room was kinda cold, but hey, not spending time in there.

Owners/staff were very nice, restaurant was clean, and lots of space between tables. That is pretty much where it ends. I have trouble finding a $12 burger and fries in a big city and certainly did not expect to spend that much in a small town. I understand tourists are a big target, but the competition is everywhere. Maybe this is why the place was pretty much empty. As for the burger: Colorado beef, it was tasty, but dry. Fries were good, but the portions were small. I wouldn't mind paying $8-10 for the same meal, but will not return for a dry $12 burger. I suggest while touring the Royal Gorge, stop at their restaurant. Great food, beautiful views, and reasonable prices.

OK maybe in the most sophisticated big cities this place would only rate 4 stars, but in a town of 15,000 it's certainly a 5 star find. Carefully-made burgers from local grass-fed beef from a ranch owned by the same people, consistently friendly service and outstanding value for money are among the highlights here. I recommend going with their brioche bun and my wife and I most often order the simplest and most classic option: 4 oz. cheeseburger with cheddar, lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo and ketchup. The burgers come with their excellent house-made potato chips (don't waste your money on their fries, which cost extra and are ordinary foodservice pre-mades). At $6.15 including tax, for cooked-to-order grass-fed beef instead of the CAFO poison on offer everywhere else this is one of the best values around. Cañon City is very fortunate to have Bunkhouse Burgers!

Stopped in today after visiting the Royal Gorge. Bought 3 burgers, all 3 were very over cooked and dry. 1 came out with the wrong toppings. Got sides of fresh fried chips (very hard), fried pickles (bland), and fries. The fries and drinks were the best out of the entire meal. Gave away our punch card because we will not return.

I was here on business, and read the Yelp reviews. I had the pineapple teriyaki burger. I didn't care for the large amount of teriyaki sauce that saturated the meat, as it obscured the great taste of the burger. My dining companion had the burger with grilled onions and swiss cheese. The great beef taste shined through! The staff was very inviting and attentive. The burgers were cooked to order and they were very quick to get them out. Loved the bun choices, and I ate the brioche bun. Additional sides such as mushrooms and grilled onions are available for an extra charge. We were thanked on the way out. Good place, in this dining starved town.

The burger and chicken sandwich we got tasted great, and the fries and onion rings were hot and fresh. However, this place is definitely more fast-foody than not. Seemed like it came out of a warmer as opposed to fresh off the grill. Not bad, but definitely not 5 stars.

If you like a dry over priced hamburger that's more by that meat this is the place for you. Stand in line and wait then sit and wait.. Enjoy

Stopped here while visiting Canon City. Saw it and checked yelp. Decided to give it a try. Was greeted and had menu explained. Ordered the cowboy with barbecue sauce and onions. The burger was cooked to perfection very good taste. The brioche bun was very tasty. My wife and daughter also liked their orders. The French fries onion rings and homemade chips also cooked to perfection. The staff was very friendly and informative. Would recommend if you want something different then the standard restaurant fare. If you want an new adventure for your burger this is the place.

Loved this place, locally sourced, grass-fed beef burgers, and the chips were excellent. The place bills itself as a family run business, and it sure seems like it. The folks there were very helpful and seemed enthusiastic about what they were selling. Not the cheapest burger in town, but sure seemed like the best. Will definitely stop in again next time I'm in Canon City.

So my friend and I loaded up the dog and went out to look at some fall color and scenery. On the loop back, we decided to go for lunch somewhere in Cañon City. At first, my friend was caving Pizza Hut and some breadsticks. Unfortunately, it was a warm day and Pizza Hut had no outdoor seating or shade for the puppy so we headed just down to the burger joint. Outdoor seating and shade. Yay! Little did we know we were in for juicy, tasty burgers, good buns, great onion strings and house made chips! YUM! It was a perfect meal for our sight-seeing trip. I'll definitely hit this place again when I'm next in Cañon City.

I was really impressed with the burgers here. They were a little expensive but considering the quality of beef it was well worth it! The chips were unique and great! The service was quick, and I would definitely go back when we drive through again!

Super yummy! You will be hard pressed to find a tastier, fresh burger. So so good! Friendly staff and clean facility. Eating inside is nice and cool retreat from the summer heat. They serve you in metal pie tins, giving it a great old west feel, which really ties in nicely with their fresh grass fed beef. They serve fresh homemade potato chips, which are unique and quite delicious! The only draw back is the price, but you are paying for quality,so in my opinion it's well worth it!

Awesome staff. Super friendly. On a Sunday afternoon at 1:30 it was still super busy. They have their own ranch with 100% grass fed cattle. We all bought the Bronco Buster burger. Three different size options for the patty and three different bun options. Really good tasting burgers. The homemade chips are great too. Stopped here after visiting royal gorge.
